Software Feature: Autorouting

Automate the Routing Process of Ball Grid Arrays (BGA) and Other Tight PCBs.

For PCB and substrate designs such as Hybrid MCMs and other designs, please see "Routing Technology" and "PCB Autorouter"

The Autorouting tool set has commands for automatic or interactive Autorouting, a post routing clean up including automatic clean up and a powerful Push utility.

Key Features Include:

  1. Interactive Autorouting of BGA designs with many configurable controls

  2. Powerful, flexible pushing of multiple traces while maintaining clearances

  3. Prerouting a DUT to its' edge in seconds on the minimum number of layers

  4. Automatic cleanup of routing to reduce unnecessary bends and segments

  5. Slide vias while dragging traces with them and maintain complex, multi-level design rules

  • Powerful autorouter streamlines the routing process of dense BGA, CSP, PCB and Hybrid/MCM designs with CDS’s exclusive autorouting technology.

  • Angle point-to-point routing is completed quickly and automatically, shortening design cycle time.

  • Autofix moves, cleans and optimizes routed traces while maintaining trace-to-trace and trace-to-pad clearances.

  • Large numbers of traces and vias can be pushed simultaneously, with a single command, on any layer and traces, at any angle or at mismatched angles.

  • All possible via locations inside a BGA pattern are displayed on ViaGrid

Command List:

  • Acg- Automatic Clearance Generator automatically moves traces and vias to eliminate clearance errors.

  • AutoFix- Adjusts routing to eliminate unneeded bends, etc.

  • AutoTrack- This Autorouter was originally designed to route BGAs but can route other types of PCBs. The command will route nets by picking ratlines. The nets will automatically route and fix themselves if Fix is activated. It maintains design rule clearances.

  • DUTprerouter- Preroutes connections from all the pads on a BGA to beyond the edge of the BGA.

  • Gridless- Creates octagon shapes around pads for 45o angle routing with an off grid grid.

  • MPR - (Multi-Point Router) Routes a polyline between the midpoints of the pads in a part.

  • Push- This any angle pusher pushes traces and vias when touched by another trace or via being pushed and maintains design rule clearances.

  • SegSlide- Slides vertex segments by picking them individually or with a fence.

  • Track- Allows flexible drawing and editing of individual polylines with online DRC and adds vias.

  • UnRoute- Erases entities like polylines, vias that are used for routing.

  • ViaArea- Define areas where via centers can be placed.

  • ViaGrid - Creates a temporary edge to show centerlines for placing vias in a BGA pattern.

  • Vmove- Moves vertices against adjoining polylines using DRC.
