Upgrading
to versions
Installing
- After
receiving a link to download, double pick the
EXE .
- Software
will be installed in a new directory.
- This
will NOT upgrade previous version installations.
- Follow
the prompts or refer to the Installation guide on our website
for detailed install instructions.
- Once
the software installation has completed, you must have a new
CDS.PWD license file (See Licensing below).
- Once
you have a new license file, run the software from the Start
menu in the CAD Design Software program group.
- Any
previous version will still be accessible by running from the
Start menu.
- You
may point the new install of EPD to your existing Library files or copy them
(See Library Files below).
- Any
previous versions can be uninstalled to free up hard drive space
or can remain installed.
- Customers
using the network version will have to use the same procedure
except the license will need to be re-read on the license server
(See Licensing below).
Licensing
- Unit
and Dongle Licenses
- Previous
versions of EPD (7.0-7.5) will work with a license as long
as the version in the license is higher than the version you
are running. If you want to run EPD 7.4 and currently have a
7.2 license file, it will not work.
- There
should only be ONE (1) CDS.PWD license file on a
computer.
- Network License
- Place
CDS.PWD in the \CDSFlexLM directory and overwrite the
older file.
- Run
the lmtools.exe.
- Pick
the Configure using Services radio button.
- Select
the Service to edit (CAD DESIGN SOFTWARE).
- Located
along the top of the LMTOOLS dialog box, pick the Start/Stop/Reread
tab.
- Pick
the Stop Server button.
- Pick
the ReRead License File button. (May say Reread Server
Failed).
- Pick
the Start Server button.
- Pick
the Server Status tab.
- Pick
the Perform Status Enquiry button.
- Scroll
down to the line Vendor daemon status (on server).
- Verify
it says:
- CDS:
UP vX.X
Library Files
- These
files are in a default location of
- \EPD\HYB\,
\EPD\PCB\, \EPD\SCH\, \EPD\ASY\Data, \EPD\Fab\Data
- We
always recommend that when using EPD components, you save them
as a different name and not overwrite existing EPD data files.
- Typically,
custom design library files would not be saved in any of these
directories.
- New
folders or sub-folders would be created (either in EPD, on a
network drive or other location of the computer).
- Browse
these directories if you are not sure and check the date stamps
on the files.
