AUTOCAD SPECIFIC PROFILE SETUP NOTICE
This
applies to All CAD Design Software products for use with AutoCAD
If there is no
profile set in AutoCAD before a CDS product is installed, when
CDS is
installed, it will become the only profile in AutoCAD, and will
override any settings made to your AutoCAD environment such as
menus, tool bars, etc. Please
follow the below instructions to preserve your profile data and
allow it to co-exist with the CDS product profile data.
Configuring
AutoCAD with multiple profiles (CDS profiles and non-CDS or
customized profiles)
Because
the AutoCAD version of CDS is a plug-in for AutoCAD, when CDS is
installed, it creates a profile in AutoCAD so that the CDS design
environment is loaded each time AutoCAD is opened (Technology,
menus, etc.). When
AutoCAD is initially installed, there is no profile created, and
AutoCAD opens with no profile (default settings).
Any settings or customization made to AutoCAD are stored and
remain only until a profile is loaded.
If these user settings or customizations are not saved in a
profile, when CDS is started and the CDS profile is loaded, all
previous settings or customization will be over-written and will not
be recoverable.
If you have
customized your AutoCAD, such as menus, toolbars, etc., it is
advised that you first create a Profile for your custom
configuration. This will allow you to use your AutoCAD as it was
installed and configured without auto-loading CAD Design Software
profile tools or environment.
Create
a profile of your current AutoCAD BEFORE installing EPD:
- Open
AutoCAD and navigate to the Tools menu and pick Options.
- The
Options dialog box appears.
- Pick
the Profiles tab.

- Exit
AutoCAD.

the desktop, right-click on the AutoCAD desktop shortcut icon
and select Properties.
- In
the Target path, go to the end of the path.

the last quotation mark “, press the space bar and then type
-P [Profilename].
- Example:
"C:\Program Files\AutoCAD 2006\acad.exe" -p acad
- Pick
the OK button to exit the Properties.
- Double
pick the desktop icon.
- Your
custom settings will be loaded and available.
